Floral perfumes are fragrances that are dominated by one or several types of flower notes. These types of perfume are predominately feminine and made for women although many of them can also be classified as unisex. Floral fragrances can be split into many smaller groups such as Single florals, Florientals, Heady florals, Floral bouquet, Fruity florals, Soft florals, Aldehydic florals, Green florals and Woody florals. Depending on the distinctive accompanying scent notes in the perfume.

The floral fragrance category is one the oldest style of perfumes that were created by most of the oldest and most prestigious perfume houses. In eras past, especially during the regency period, floral perfumes were the trend of the day and used in making status statements among the very rich. Both men and women regularly doused themselves in floral perfumes made with intensely aromatic oils. Rose, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Carnation, Frangipani, Lotus, Champaka, Tuberose and other expensive natural flower oils were the most common perfume ingredients used in the blends of the day.

Floral perfumes remain the most popular fragrance group to this day, they are numerous and extensive in their scents and characteristics, appealing to people right across the generations. Vast numbers of floral perfumes are created every year by the perfume industry to meet this demand. The availability of such an amazing variety of perfumes within the floral family is truly fascinating, from vibrant and intoxicatingly complex fragrances like Beautiful and Pleasures from Estee Lauder, to single florals that only contain the fragrance note of a single flower such as Stella by Stella McCartney, which as a beautiful rose scent.

In the early days of perfumery, French perfume houses were renowned for making perfume in the traditional style using the industry staples of natural perfume ingredients like essential oils and botanical compounds, sometimes accentuated with other ingredients like musk and ambergris derived from animal by products.

However, in modern times and in recent years, perfumers have moved away from classic perfume making style. With easy access to thousands of aromatic raw materials, modern perfume makers are no longer under the constraints that were placed on their predecessors from earlier eras by having limited aromatic ingredients to work with.

The composition process of perfumes is now much more exciting; and the combination of creativity, quality perfume supplies and technological advancement has really turned things on its head, making the creation of beautiful perfumes quite common place. Perfume makers are now constantly composing great floral scents with perfume notes that do not exist in nature. Headspace technology and aroma chemicals are extensively used to produce fresh and fruity floral notes that are sweeter and more vibrant than those used in classics floral perfumes.

These days, it’s not uncommon to find vibrant floral perfumes that contain notes of bluebells, raspberries, ozone, melon, apples, and other such notes used to add substance and character to a blend. Light Blue for women by Dolce and Gabbana and Island Kiss by Escada are popular examples of such blends.

Nevertheless, although modern floral perfumes are by far the most popular perfumes sold these days, the more traditional old faithful heady floral perfumes made with rich and heavy floral notes still command a good part of the market. As does soft floral perfumes bygone days that are made with airy notes of Lily of the valley, Gardenia, Freesias, Aldehydes and other white flowers. They too continue to stand their ground and retain their dedicated following.

Donna Karan was born in 1948 in Queens and has made her name a household one with her lines of designer clothing, glasses, and fragrances. Her mother was a model and her father a tailor, leading to her interest in the world of fashion, and she began selling clothing at the age of 14. She went on to work for famed designer Anne Klein, eventually heading up the design team, where she remained until 1989. At this point she launched her “Seven Easy Pieces”, which became legendary and opened up the door for the later expansion into perfumes.

Donna Karan, the signature fragrance in the line of Donna Karan perfumes, is rich with aromas of suede, rose, jasmine, and lily, all layered atop a base of patchouli, sandalwood, and amber. This creates a unique and evocative sensation that can be worn casually on a daily basis.

Perhaps the most well known of Donna Karan perfumes is DKNY, named for the same as her most popular line of clothing. This mainstream perfume is crisp and citrusy, with notes of orange and tomato leaf, blended carefully with daffodils and yellow waterlilies for a decidedly light floral background. Built atop a base of white birch and wet cobblestone, this fragrance offers a means by which to transition easily from casual daywear to a more romantic evening. DKNY is a fragrance on the edge and always in motion, exploding with the excitement and the energy of New York City. DKNY captures the scent, spirit and soul of New York.

Launched back in 1994, Cashmere Mist is another DK perfume with staying power. Inspired by the smell of clean cashmere, this blend of jasmine, sandalwood, and light vanilla create a decidedly woodsy aroma that is exactly what you would call for on a clear, fall day. Reminiscent of a cool day trekking through the woods, this fragrance is delightfully casual and outdoorsy.

Be Delicious and Be Delicious Night are a pair of Donna Karan perfumes that aid in keeping a theme throughout a day while adding a level of sophistication after dark. Inspired by New York City, the day wear formula is a blend of several light floral scents with the obvious apple essence, all layered with cucumber, grapefruit, amber, and wood. Be Delicious Night incorporates a sexier blend of ginger, jasmine petals, amber, purple freesia, and chilled blackberry martini, with just a hint of night-blooming orchids.

If you think about making your own spa products – such as lotions, body washes, and exfoliating scrubs – you probably think it sounds difficult. It probably brings to mind lots of weird ingredients, chemicals, and slaving away over a hot vat of goo for hours.

After this article, you’ll know that nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, using my method (which I call The Easy Way), making your own bath and body products takes less time than going to the mall, and you get twice the quality of skin care.

The Two Ways Of Making Products – Hard and Easy

There are two ways to make your own bath and body products – The Hard Way, and The Easy Way. The Hard Way means investing a lot of time in books and trial-and-error in your kitchen, and a lot of money in ingredients. Often, you need patience and perseverance as you attempt to make a basic lotion or liquid soap, but it doesn’t come out as well as you’d hoped. Heck, you didn’t even get to the fun part, which adding the scent and color!

The Hard Way Takes Time and Practice

The Hard Way is what is taught in soapmaking classes, websites, and books. It can be fun and rewarding because of the natural ingredients and the high-quality products that result. Shea butter lotions… aloe body washes… If you are prepared to invest the time and money, and you have a lot of patience, The Hard Way does pay off. You get wonderfully moisturizing products in your favorite fragrances – even hard to find ones – that are much better than Bath and Body Works.

The problem is, The Hard Way is often incredibly discouraging to beginners. As they pour their failed body wash down the bathtub drain, most beginners start to wonder if it’s really worth the trouble. Sooner or later, they go back to the mall and pay too much for what is essentially drugstore-quality products in fancy bottles and scents.

Beginners Can Master The Easy Way

The Easy Way of making bath and body products is, well, easy! With The Easy Way, you get all the benefits – the natural ingredients, the high-quality skin care products, and your favorite scents – for only 10% the work. The Hard Way is like baking a fancy Julia Child cake recipe, but The Easy Way is more like making a cake mix.

The Easy Way uses professional unscented product bases (also called “cosmetic bases”) that are specially manufactured for this purpose. These bases are made with natural ingredients, such as shea butter, avocado oil, aloe, and goats’ milk, so you still get high quality skin care, the same as if you had made the bases yourself with The Hard Way.

Quickly Make Lotion, Shower Gel, Shampoo, Scrub

You can get unscented bases for almost any liquid product you can think of: body lotion, massage cream, bath oil, shower gel, bubble bath, salon-quality shampoo and conditioner, body scrub, hand soap, and face wash.

Customize High Quality Unscented Products With Your Own Ingredients.

To these basic products, you add your own fragrance, color, and other special ingredients, such as silk proteins and botanical extracts. You can even experiment with natural anti-aging ingredients such as carrot seed oil, green tea extract, and collagen. These ingredients are what makes your products unique!

Just Like The Professionals

If you compare three bottles of shower gel from Bath and Body Works, The Body Shop, and Origins, you will see a lot of similarities in their first few ingredients. That’s because they’re all taking a basic body wash and making their own improvements on it, just like you can with The Easy Way.

Free 8-Page Report Gets You Started

There’s no need to reinvent the wheel (or a basic body wash.) If what you want is to quickly and easily create your own bath and body products, The Easy Way is the method for you! If you want to get more information, I have written a quick 8-page PDF with a recipe and photos. To read it, just send a blank email to productreport@excellentlivingguide.com, and it will be emailed to your inbox. You must be able to receive attachments over 1MB (it’s 1.1MB.)

What would Christmas be without snowballs? So, what better scented gift to give, then primitive snowballs that will last all year

This is an breezy, simple craft to do and you will receive hours of enjoyment in making snowballs. I warn you this can be addictive.

It is just like being a kid all over again, when you create one of these delightfully cool snowballs or icicles.

Make old fashion Vintage looking Winter icicles, snowballs, and snowflakes for Christmas or Winter Weddings. A bowl of festive snowballs or icicles make a wonderful center piece for festive occasions. Surround yours with candle light.

They are fast, fun, and best of all, easy. Get ready to have a great afternoon with the kids in the kitchen.

Maybe you can even make a little extra money at the next craft show.

These creative primitive grungy crafts look great as decorations in your country decor. Try placing them in baskets, old primitive boxes, old pans, wooden dough bowls. Add a sprig or two of Christmas green, pinecones, a few red berries dried, or use your imagination and see what you can come up with.

I have no idea when my mother first discovered the recipe for making primitive snowballs, but I assure you she was not the creator.

My mother loved to find new crafts for us to do every year at Christmas and this was my favorite. I loved those times with my family, the 1950’s and 60’s. Moms were mom and dads were dads. I hope you will find this recipe will bring hours or joy with your family, as it did with mine.

Make your snowballs in all sizes. You can use the Winter Traditional White coloring or make the Down and Dirty Grungy Snowballs. You can have them scented or unscented, the choice is yours. I love to add Prim glitter to mine. Gives them more of a holiday feel and frankly, looks the big brown bowl on the white table cloth, filled with snowballs, doesn’t hurt the look.

These are very inexpensive to make and so easy, even your children need very little supervision. Now if you are a perfectionist, making these to sell at a craft show, you may want to leave the children to their own side of the table.

Ok, here we go

A Christmas Tradition with a Vintage Twist

You will need the following.

A pack of any size styrofoam balls found at any craft store or craft section. The same recipe is used in making the icicles too, but instead of styrofoam balls use the cheap plastic icicles. When making snowflakes, dab the compound on with a sponge brush. Snowflakes can be purchased at most any store. The cheap plastic kind.

White joint compound, found at any hardware store. (my mother used drywall mix, but times have changed and I don’t think we need to add difficult mixing of drywall compound to the recipe)

German Glass Glitter, Mica Glitter, or Diamond Dust found at any craft shop or on line.

Grunging supplies

Real Nutmeg

Have a bowl of glitter ready on the side.

Acrylic craft paint or water based stain, brown is the preferred color, but don’t be afraid to experiment.

Mix the following together:

Joint compound

Candle scent, if you want your snowballs scented, the strength is your choice, but a little goes a long way.

A few drops of the colored stain or acrylic paint -the color choice is yours, winter blue, snowy white, creamy, or old fashion winter white.

Add nutmeg or cinnamon to your mixture if you want little flecks of dirt added to your snowballs.

Roll the styrofoam balls generously in the joint compound mixture.

Then drop in the bowl of glitter glass (my personal favorite) Make sure you coat the snowball evenly all around.

Pick it up, gently, and shake off the excess glitter. Place the snowball on a pizza pan that is lined with old fashion wax paper.

They have to dry for 2 or 3 days at the least. Make sure you turn the balls over once or twice a day.

Tips for Packaging

Bag up 6 to 12 of the various sized snowballs in a cello bag with a festive bow and the grungy primitive tag. Add a sprig of green and a bow of twine and rag strips. You can get those bags from the grocery store that are paper with the see through plastic window in the front. Those make a great for display at you craft show and are prefect for gift giving. Mix them with the waxed dipped rag balls, fill a big old blue mason ball jars. Add a vintage postcard strung on a ribbon. You can have a truly primitive grungy Christmas gift that anyone would love. You could even make a lamp with the old blue mason jar.

You can cut pieces of brown twine, sting the twine the icicles and snowflakes for cool Vintage Old Time Christmas Ornaments. Hang the ornaments on your old fashion Christmas tree.Put a hook in the snowballs before you roll them in the glitter, grungy mixture. The hook will dry solid in the snowballs. I like making my own hooks from old rusty pieces of wire purchased from craft stores.

Congradulations! See, it wasn’t as hard as you thought it was going to be. Anyone can make a snowball! Have fun and until next time – craft on, from the candle making supplies team at www.wicks-wax-scents.com

Colors of flower reflects in the color of essential oils. As plants derive energy from the sun’s component rays which contain all the colors of a rainbow, they offer a special method of absorbing color vibrations into our system. Unlike synthetic substances, which have no vital force contained in them, essential oils are filled with living, pulsating vibrations. This is why aromatherapy, like color therapy, forms a part of “vibrational medicine” – a form of medicine that uses the powerful vibrations of the electromagnetic spectrum. As I have been researching Aromatherapy and Color Therapy for years I have learned how they both work harmoniously together and blend to create a desired effect.

To create a perfect blend of Aromatherapy with the color vibration you can blend a complementary color pair such as yellow and violet, or pink and green. You can also use color as a guide to using essential oils, by mixing those with similar or complementary colors.

Orange skin tonic:

Put 16 drops of orange essential oil and 4 drops of neroli into ½ cup/4 fl. Oz/100 ml orange flower water. Use as a cleanser, as required. Do not use if pregnant. Do not go out into the sun for at least 72 hours.

Yellow/Violet Healing Balm For Acne and Spots

Mix two drops of lemon essential oil and one drop of lavender essential oil with 6 drops of evening primrose oil. Spread onto the affected area morning and evening. Do not go out into the sun for at least 72 hours. Do not use if pregnant.

Violet Tonic For Blemished Skin

Put 12 drops of lavender into ½ cup/4 fl. Oz/100 ml of lavender water, and use to cleanse the affected area. Do not use if pregnant.

Yellow//Red Cellulite Bath Mix

Mix into 2 Tablespoons/30 ml. Of Almond Oil 2 drops of lemon and one drop of sandalwood essential oil . Add to the bath as required.

White – Cajeput

Red – Sandalwood

Orange – Orange, Mandarin, Cinnamon, Carrot Seed Oil, Neroli,

Gold – Patchouli

Yellow – Citronella, Lemongrass, Evening Primrose Oil, Lemon, Camphor.

Olive Green – Essential oils made from herbs, Himalaya Pine.

Emerald Green – Rosemary, Scotch Pine, Basil, Peppermint.

Pink – Geranium

Saphire Blue – Myrrh, Tea Tree, Roman Chamomile

Royal Blue – German Chamomile

Violet – Violet, Rose, Rose Geranium, Lavender, Juniper

Deep Magenta – Frankincense, Clary Sage,

VIBRATIONAL ENERGY

Subtle energy is produced by our body’s energy anatomy, also referred to as our subtle anatomy. The body is surrounded by a vibrational field that is commonly referred to as the aura. The aura is an electromagnetic force field that surrounds all living things in both the animal and plant kingdom and interpenetrates the physical body.

The force field shields and protects the body. Perhaps you can sometimes see a light around a person’s head or you may sense somebody’s mood. If so, you may be becoming aware of the human energy field that people call the Aura. The colors of the aura are a good indicator of the personality, health and spirituality. The aura is multi-colored and flows and moves with you, changing color with your moods, feelings and spiritual condition.

Disease and illness are physical disorders which have their roots in being blocked or stuck in energy flow of the body–or in some cases, too free a flow, most often in or near vital organs. The flow is blocked, or stuck, or unbalanced, as a result of thought, which eventually works through the physical body as a pain or as an organic disturbance of some kind. This is the true nature of disease and illnesses and disorders to which humankind is prone. The release of the healing powers within oneself depends upon this particular cleansing process which can be cleansed using aromatherapy and color therapy.

AROMATHERAPY

Essential oils are derived from grasses, buds, peels, branches, needles, bark, leaves, seeds, berries, flowers, roots, fruits, woods, herbs, spices. Carriers, which carry the essential oils throughout the body and bloodstream are oils are derived from nuts, plants, fruit kernels, beeswax, flowers, flower seeds, fruit seeds, plant seeds, vegetables, herbs. These have thicker consistency so that they can carry the essential oils throughout the body. Aromatherapy promotes health of body, peacefulness of mind, helps the negative emotions to rest and by working in conjunction with the olfactory system, helps a person get in touch with their true selves.

Essential oils are gaining acceptance as a leading choice in home care. Many chiropractors value essential oils with amazing results in chiropractic treatments. Scents that activate the brain’s emotional centre and redefining psychology. Practitioners of traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine have valued essential oils for thousands of years. More and more medical doctors are valuing the clinical benefits of essential oils. Aromatherapy is now being used as an adjunct to core professions such as nursing, geriatrics, rehabilitation work, counseling, and physiotherapy. Used with naturopaths, hospice, hospitals, Special Needs, working in the travel-leisure industry at spas, resorts, retreats and cruise ships, health centers. Aromatherapy is used in methods such as massage, sitz baths, compresses, baths, perfumes, infusions, facial care, hair care. They can be used by human and animal alike. Do not use essential oils on cats or small animals.

The known physical and psychological effects of essential oils are often indicators of their subtle properties. For example, rosemary promotes mental clarity and relieves mental fatigue. On a subtle level, rosemary has an affinity with the sixth energy center (Third Eye), and is used to promote clear thoughts and insight. On a physical level juniper is cleansing and antiseptic. On a subtle level, it is used to cleanse a room of negativity, and to detoxify the subtle bodies.

THE PATCH TEST

If you are unsure of how your skin will react to an essential oil, apply one drop of the oil to some carrier oil to the inside of your wrist or forearm. Check the spot for any itching, redness, burning or irritation after a few hours. Or if needed to be applied before a massage a couple of minutes. If you have very delicate skin and wish to be extremely careful, you can cover the spot with a Band-Aid and leave it for 24 hours. You could also use these same procedures for carriers.

COLOR THERAPY

Color therapy is being used for Special Needs children in Special Needs centers. Color therapy is being used for children who have learning disabilities. A special colored filter chosen by the individual child and placed over their reading material helps a child learn more. Yellow is the most popular color. Dr. Phil had mentioned that using a blue light at bedtime helps to calm children to sleep and relax and has been used to calm children with Attention Deficit Disorder.

Color is the tiny visible portion of the vast spectrum of electromagnetic energy which is one of the fundamental forces of the universe. Light functions at the subatomic (quantum) level of matter as well as filling the whole space (as microwave background radiation – -an echo of the Big Bang of cosmic creation). All life on earth depends on the nutritious energy of light from the sun, which is conveniently stripped of dangerous levels of ultraviolet radiation by the earth’s atmosphere. Light, as bio-photons, is also working within the body’s cells as communication, and outside the body to infuse the auric field. An individual’s life and psychology is symbolically related to colors and the colors occur in the aura. You may be ‘seeing red’ or ‘feeling blue.’ You may be ‘in the dark’(depressed) or fired with enthusiasm, bright spark. Growing spiritual awareness is linked with pale hues and the golden-white light that unifies all colors and represents the unity or Source of all.

You can apply color by putting a colored light bulb in a lamp and shining it on yourself, or, you can breathe color in, or you can visualize it. You can also put a color filter around a glass of water and let the sun shine on it for a couple of hours to create solarized water. You can purchase colored filters from stage lighting companies. Then the water will have the vibration of whatever color filter you put around the glass. Your whole system would then partake and benefit from the color effects. You might apply color therapy using a swing arm lamp. You then can cut out two cardboard squares with a giant square in the middle of each square. You need two pieces of this. You then tape these two pieces together. Leave an opening to slide in your colored filters between the two cardboard pieces. Then you Velcro the square to the base of your swing arm lamp. You then can either use colored light bulbs. These you can purchase from a lamp company or hardware store. Or you can u!

se colored filters. Once you do this, you shine the light on a body part or you shine it systemically. This means, you shine the light all over the front or back of your body for an hour at a time. Some systems of Chroma Therapy (Color Therapy) teach that you should not shine violet light on the face. You should leave an hour or two in between different color treatments. You should also do a muscle test or dowse to see if the color is correct to use for that length of time. A person who is not comfortable under a certain color should not use that color for a lamp treatment. If you like a color, it is good for you. If you have a neutral reaction to a color, you likely don’t need that color. You can use this type of therapy at night for your tonations (This means color treatment) if you get a light timer so that the light can be timed to go off at intervals. Each of the colors has a different effect on the body, yet they are all interrelated. They all work together to relie!

y time. It would be better for a person to be unclothed. But if that person feels uncomfortable being unclothed.

Then wearing white cotton underwear would be a great idea as the light can penetrate through white material especially if it is natural as the skin can breathe.

Treatments may be taken at any time before eating, but wait for two hours or more after a meal. If indigestion occurs, however, yellow may be used at that time. Normal light in the room will not interfere with the effect of the color, but do not use in the direct sunlight or other strong lights. It will dissipate the strength of the color.

Have the room warm enough to prevent a chill. Since it is the effect of the color and not the heat, the lamp may be four to eight feet away from the body. It is best to be in a reclining position or sitting. The swivel on the lamp allows proper exposure on different areas.

Clothing makes a difference to a light treatment. You wear a color of clothing that is agreeable. The light will penetrate your clothes giving you a tonation. This is like shining a light on yourself through the color of your clothing. However, certain fibres with heavily saturated colors resist and diffuse the light. White cotton is the best of the fibres because it is natural and it doesn’t obstruct the light. This is called a tonation.

You can visualize or imagine the color you need or breathe in the colors that you need. Contemplating on a color either in your mind or by keeping your attention focused on something of the color you want to work with can be valuable . A more intellectual form of color meditation is to assemble your thoughts about a given color either just letting the associations flow or even writing them down.

Vegetable food coloring can be used in bath water to give your self a luxurious color bath. You can colored salt or baking soda to make a parable easily dispersed color bath salt. Perhaps you’d enjoy a color bath combined with some favourite water proof stones and perhaps some herbs or scented oils. Add Rose colored and aqua colored baths if you have a bathtub (its on the list of home improvements.)

Purple and dark blue should only be used for a short time ten to twenty minutes at most, as they can be depressing if overused. Orange is very invigorating and deep clear greens are very restful. You can add flower petals to the bath. Be careful that the bath water is not too hot as this can destroy the properties of the flowers like roses.

Art can be used in color healing, painting or drawing with the colors you feel are needed is a valuable and expressive way to integrate color healing into your life. Color can be gazed at, you can get a swatch of a color or gemstones or candles to look at it or use objects of that color. Just walking in nature and looking at flowers is one way to bring in color . Study the artwork of the artist you enjoy and explore the effects that the artists color choices have on your emotions and sense of well being.

You can use colored food. This is called the rainbow diet. If you have been too depressed and you need to be uplifted, you can use the warm colors to heal. If you have been too stimulated and you need to calm down, you can use the cool colors to cool yourself down. These are some ways to use color in your daily life.

The bottom line of this article is whether you use essential oils in massage or in an aromatic bath, you are using the color frequencies that relate to their qualities and therapeutic actions and vibrations.

To your health,

Roses are one of natures most beautiful and splendid gifts. Roses come in a variety of colors and scents, from deep, deep red to the brightest yellow. The many pedals on roses offer a texture and fullness to roses that far outshine any other flowers. Black roses, red roses and white roses have all been used in historical writings. Even Sherlock Holmes paused from his busy work while solving the case of “The Naval Treaty” and said, “All other things …are really necessary for our existence…But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.

It’s interesting that something as beautiful as roses are also equipped with sharp thorns. An interesting play on our concept of taking the good with the bad from nature. The most esteemed of all cultivated plants, are the true roses. Rosa occurs indigenously in the north temperate zone and in tropical mountain areas, usually as erect or climbing shrubs with five-petaled fragrant flowers. The rose has been a favorite flower in many lands since prehistoric times. It appears in the earliest art, poetry, and tradition. It has been used in innumerable ways in decoration. In ancient times it was used medically. But, for many gardeners just being able to grow beautiful roses is reward enough.

You can search all over the web to find some great resources to help. Yellow roses, blue roses or climbing roses can all be found on the internet. Take your time to look around and consider what kind of roses you would like to have blooming in your garden.

You may have many that you enjoy wearing. If you are like many people you probably even have several discount fragrances designed by or for celebrities. Have you ever wondered though how a discount fragrance is made?

Usually when someone sets out to have a perfume designed they work with someone trained in the art of perfume making. This person helps to guide the process and making sure that obvious mistakes are avoided. They also help guide the design of the discount perfume by asking questions about the person’s tastes and likes so that the finished discount perfume expresses their personality.

This particular process was designed and perfected by the French. While it is possible to have a custom fragrance designed, the cost can be quite high. That is why it is often easier and more enjoyable to that you like.

Perfumes consist of layers of scents. When you spray or sample a discount perfume the first scents you notice are called the top notes. These are the lighter scents and typically only last a few hours. After the top notes, come the hearts notes. Somewhat deeper than the top notes, the heart notes may last until the end of the work day. They help give a fragrance a fullness. The final scents are the bass notes. These form the foundation for a discount perfume and are the longest lasting scents in a discount perfume. These will last well into the end of the day.

When a discount perfume is designed, it is developed in reverse order from how it well be smelled. The bass notes are decided first. There are many standard formulas for the bass notes. These are the deepest, strongest scents in a discount perfume and often include musks, aromatic woods or stronger floral scents.

After the bass notes have been selected, the heart notes are decided. Selecting the heart notes for a discount perfume is usually a process of choosing a few scents from single scents like bergamot or english tea. These heart notes fill out the scent of a discount fragrance and give it a roundness. You could say that they are the harmony of a discount fragrances.

Finally, the top notes are selected. The top notes in a scent typically last 2-4 hours. The top notes are what you smell first when a perfume is sprayed. The top notes do the most to express the discount perfume’s personality. One could say that the top notes are a scents melody.

The process of designing a perfume takes a great deal of skill and training in the French method of layering various scents. Those trained in the method often try to create a personality or in the case of a celebrity fragrance, express the personality of the celebrity. Discount fragrances are created and mixed in the reverse order that they are perceived when they are smelled. Designing a discount perfume is in many ways similar to composing a piece of music with the bass notes, heart notes and top notes all contributing to create the final piece.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t underestimate the seductive power of scent. Both men and women respond to tantalizing blends of floral, fruity, spicy, and even woodsy ingredients – which is why indulging in the right personal fragrance is essential to setting the intimate mood you desire.

Don’t know where to start? We recommend these seven sexy fragrances:

2. Buttery goodness. Tempt your lover and soothe your skin at the same time with Booty Parlor’s Flirty Little Secret body butter. Featuring the fresh, light scents of blackberry, honey, and vanilla, this creamy moisturizer is laden with pheromones to drive your Valentine wild.

Treat yourself to 100% Pure’s Chocolate Mocha Body Cream for a rich, delicious fragrance that is sure to draw him closer.

3. Spicy heat. Nothing says masculine like spicy notes of pepper, ginger, cardamom, or cinnamon. Help your man start his day right with Molton Brown’s Re-Charge Black Pepper Body Wash. Steeped in black pepper oil, this gel formula will not only wake up his senses, but boost his circulation, too.

4. Rich aroma. What is more attractive than the sweet smell of success? To bring out your sexy professional side, try Bond No. 9 Wall Street, which combines citrus, marine, and herbal notes for a cool, zesty scent.

5. Rosy cheek. Go bold with a new twist on the classic, sexy scent of roses. The Juliette Has a Gun collection features sassy names like Citizen Queen and Lady Vengeance, which marries the scent of Bulgarian rose with spicy patchouli and soothing vanilla for an edgy, attractive fragrance.

6. Musk haves. Rich musk notes can bring out the animal in the one you love. For a feminine twist, try CoSTUME NATIONAL 21, which combines musky undertones with the light scents of pure milk and orange blossom for a warm, sensual blend.

7. Smooth finish. Want to dance cheek-to-cheek with your man? Introduce him to The Art of Shaving. Available in the soothing scents of lavender, lemon, and sandalwood, The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave kit has everything he needs for a kissably smooth shave-which means you can get as close as you dare.

Men and women wear perfume for different reasons. Young men wear perfumes to attract women and older men often do it as a practice or so that they will not smell bad in public. Young women wear perfume when they’re inspired by friends or their favourite movie star. When they are old they wear perfume to please the person who gave it. Both men and woman have been using perfumes for over 4,000 years.

Perfume is a mixture of fragrances which are synthetic or organic. When combined with essential oils, chemicals and alcohol it provides various pleasant odours. It has become a part of our life that we cannot live without therefore most of us carry a perfume everywhere we go. Everyone loves to smell nice and in return we like when others smell good. People will not like to be close to anyone with a bad odour, but will always love to get close to someone who smells good.

Perfume can be identified mainly by six groups. Floral, Spice, herbal, exotic, wood and fruits are perfume’s different fragrances. Floral perfume will give a smell of one flower or of a group of flowers. Fruity ones will smell like orange, apricot, lime or lemons. Woody smells come from natural wood such as sandalwood and patchouli. Spicy ones will give the smell of cinnamon, ginger etc and exotic ones are usually the masculine scents which smell like tobacco or aromatic wood. The natural perfume smells are created by using different parts of the plant including the flower, fruits, seed, root, bark and the wood.

Apart from natural substances, synthetic perfume fragrances are made by using chemicals and artificial substances. The perfume maker tries to get the natural fragrances by using artificial compounds, thereby distributing to the market in affordable prices.

It is a well observed fact how perfume changes its smell after application. Like music perfume is described in terms of notes. The smell that comes immediately after we apply is known as the top notes. These top notes change after about 30 minutes. These are known as middle notes or heart notes. The middle notes will last longer than other notes. When the perfume fades away the residue will give out another smell which is called the final notes. Final notes come out 3 or 4 hours after application.

Knowing all these it is also worthwhile to know the best way to apply perfume. When applying, the perfume shouldn’t be rubbed to the skin. As a result of the body heat the top notes can be soon evaporated if rubbed vigorously. Instead the perfume should be sprayed at a small distance so that it spreads.

Many people buy perfumes merely by seeing an advertisement seen on TV or a fashion magazine. This is not the correct way to buy the right perfume for you. It may smell too strong, too sweet or even nauseating for some others when applied on your skin. This is because perfumes react differently when applied on different skins. Therefore never buy a perfume on someone else’s recommendation. The trip to the store is really worthwhile to see which perfume smells good on you. Check out the new fragrances at Scentstore for a wider selection of perfumes.
